I have been super busy with customs and am almost done.

I had a request for a custom perpetual calendar.  She wanted it to be secular and seasonal.  It was a little out of my normal area, so I was a little worried, but am really happy with how it turned out.  I am almost hoping she hates it so that I can keep it.  lol

If I get a chance to make anything today, I am taking a break and making what I want for a little while.

Been busy

Between customs and homeschooling my children.  I have been busy.  I hope to get the customs finished this week so that I can do whatever  want for a little while.

They are fun customs, my custom customers usually give me a lot of freedom and these ones are no exception.  I should have some pictures to show off tomorrow.

I have also been making a ton of fabric covered journals, ever since I found double tack, a great way to turn fabric into book cloth.

My friend Julia from http://hyenacart.com/juliadream/ paints the most incredible silks.  She mentioned how fun it would be to do a set.  I wasn’t sure how the silk would work as a cover, so she sent me some of her scraps to play with.  They are beautiful scraps.  Here is the journal I made with them.

Saturday I got quite a few packages of scraps of material in the mail that I was going to use to make journals.

Stiles found the train fabric and asked me to make him a choo choo choo train book.  I said yes and he was so excited.  I had planned on some other projects, but decided this was more important.

We jumped in the car just the two of us and ran to the store to get a supply I was out of.  The whole time he was saying, “choo choo choo train book”.  I asked him if he wanted it red or blue and he said blue, big or little and he said little.

We got home and he came in my room with me to pick everything out.  He saw the bronze paper while we were looking for blue for the spine, and told me he wanted brown instead, then he picked the inside pages, and watched me every step of the way.

He was thrilled with his choo choo choo choo train book and is working on filling up all the pages.  I am so glad I took the time to make it for him.

Now I can’t wait to play with all the other cool fabrics I received.

I do have some fun projects that will be stocking at http://www.necessitae.com/allstores.php and lots of things in progress.

Fun stuff for me

If my typing is off, it is because I am holding my little boy.  He woke up wheezing and fell back asleep while I was giving him a breathing treatment.  He is just so adorable and I haven’t put him down yet.

First of all, I have to show you something that is on it’s way to me.

bag by Jack and Journey

Jessica from http://hyenacart.com/jackandjourney/ contacted me about doing a trade, since I had mentioned wanting a bag.  I told her I loved earthy colors and earthy things and this is what she came up with.  I absolutely love it and can’t wait for it to get here.  You can see her other work on her blog http://jackandjourney.blogspot.com/

Well, since I am sharing fun things for me that are being mailed to me, here is something else on it’s way.

I traded with my friend Bridgette from http://www.desert-blooms.com/ for this set of fingerless armwarmers and headband.  I just love the colors and textures.

I have been busy gluing bookcovers, cutting papers, embellishing the covers, and getting them all ready to be bound to be bound today and tomorrow.

Monday and Tuesday are the day Maren has classes at the homeschool resource center, so I take my ready to be bound books and I bind, while Stiles plays in the preschool room and Maren goes to class.  Although with Stiles’ asthma waking up, we may not be able to go.

I have been having fun with fabric and the new Bluegrass Moon artwork.  I have lots of mini fabric books ready to bind and quite a few with the new Bluegrass Moon artwork.

I have always admired the incredible maternal applique work that LeighAnne from http://www.bluegrassmoon.com/ creates on her bags and other items .  I also dreamed of being able to use her artwork in mine.  I had visions of how it would look on journals, cards, and other items.  I asked her about doing a set for a charity auction.  We both loved how it came out and got a good reaction from others, so I worked up the courage to ask if we could do something full time.

It has been a year since we have entered into this venture of meshing our work and it has been a fabulous year.  I love working with her artwork.  Recently she made herself an incredible quilt with 6 different maternal art appliques one of them a completely new design.  She promised me as soon as she got a moment she would send me the photos so I could use them.  She sent them yesterday and I have had such an incredible time working with them.  I have quite a few items in the planning stages, too.

Here are a few of the items I made today.

The swimming mama is her new design.  I am so in love with it.  I can’t wait to have my own bag with her artwork.

Mama Kiss Baby is one of my favorites, but then I love them all.

You can see the other items I created today from her artwork at http://hyenacart.com/BeckysPaperCreations/
